The part nobody sees
Bathrooms don’t fail on the tiles. They fail behind them.
When a bathroom goes wrong a couple of years in, it’s hardly ever the suite. It’s water that found its way past the tiling into a wall nobody tanked, or a floor that flexed and cracked the grout wide open. None of that is visible on handover day, which is precisely why it’s the first thing skipped.

How a job runs
Four stages, and no nasty middle bit
Older properties round here hide things — rotten boards under a bath, tiles fixed straight onto plaster, pipework routed by somebody’s cousin in 1987. When we find something, you hear about it that day, along with what it means for the price.
A price in writing
Labour and materials separated out, with a realistic number of days. Where there’s a decision to make, we price it both ways.
Out, then back in
Old room away, walls boarded and tanked, first fix run, then tiling, suite, screen and flooring. Same faces, full days.
Tested and handed back
Everything run and checked for leaks, sealed, cleaned down, and shown to you working before we load the van.

What should I budget for a bathroom in Huddersfield?
Honestly, it swings enormously — a compact shower room and a full family bathroom tiled floor to ceiling are different projects. What we can promise is a written breakdown that separates labour from materials, so you can see which choices are driving the figure and change them if you want to.
How long will we be without a bathroom?
A full refit is generally most of a week. Shower rooms and single swaps are faster. Where it’s the only bathroom in the house we sequence the work to get the WC usable again as early as possible, and we’ll tell you which days will be the awkward ones.
Who buys the suite and the tiles?
Up to you entirely. Some people have a Pinterest board and know exactly what they want. Others would rather give us a budget and a general direction and see what we come back with. Both work fine.
What happens to the old bathroom?
It goes with us. Suite, tiles, flooring and rubble all removed and disposed of, and the room brushed and wiped down before you get it back.
Can you put a shower in where the bath is?
Yes, and it’s one of the jobs we’re asked for most. The bath comes out, the waste and feeds get re-run, walls are boarded and tanked, then the tray, screen and tiling go in. In a standard room it’s a few days.
Wet room or shower room — what’s the difference?
A shower room has a tray with a screen around it. A wet room has no tray: the floor itself is tanked and laid to fall towards a drain, so there’s no lip to step over. Wet rooms take more work underfoot but they’re unbeatable for level access.
Do you cover the tiling, flooring and electrics?
All of it. Tiling, panelling, floor coverings, plus spotlights, extractor fans and shaver sockets. Same team the whole way through, which is why the days we quote are the days it takes.
Our house is old and the walls aren’t straight. Is that an issue?
It’s the norm in this part of Kirklees — stone terraces and back-to-backs where nothing is square and the floors move. It just means setting out carefully and packing where needed rather than starting in a corner and hoping it works out.
Does a quote cost anything?
No, and there’s nothing to sign. We come out, look at the room, talk it through and send you a price. If you decide to go elsewhere that’s completely fine.
